I want your maternity session to be an unforgettable experience that captures the beauty of this special time. Preparing for your session can make all the difference in ensuring you feel confident, comfortable and radiant in every photo. Here are my top tips for getting ready:
Treat Yourself to Professional Hair and Makeup
I highly recommend having your hair and makeup done professionally on the day of your maternity session. These photos are all about celebrating you, and getting pampered will help you feel extra special. Plus, professional hair and makeup can really elevate your final images, enhancing your natural beauty in front of the camera.
Schedule Your Session Between 32 and 36 Weeks
I typically suggest scheduling your maternity session somewhere between 32 and 36 weeks. At this stage, your baby bump will be bumpin', but you'll likely still feel comfortable enough for the shoot. It’s a sweet spot where we can capture your glow without pushing into the final, more exhausting weeks of pregnancy. That being said, this doesn't mean wait until 32 weeks to book your session. In order to ensure my availability, I recommend booking your maternity session as soon as you're in your 2nd trimester.
Decide on Your Style – Studio Glam or Natural?
What’s your vision for your maternity photos? Do you prefer the sleek, polished look of a studio session or a more relaxed, natural vibe outdoors? Let me know your preferences before your session! I'll send you a questionnaire to help us plan everything down to the details. Whether you prefer the controlled light of my studio or an outdoor shoot at one of my favorite local spots, we’ll create a session that reflects your personality and style.
Let’s Talk Wardrobe: My Client Closet or Your Own Style?
Do you want me to style you, or would you prefer to bring your own outfit? I have a curated collection of maternity gowns and bodysuits in my client closet, offering a variety of styles and sizes to suit every mom-to-be. If you'd rather wear something from your own wardrobe, that’s absolutely fine too! Just let me know in advance, and we’ll plan accordingly to make sure everything is perfect.
Include Your Family!
Your maternity session can be all about you, or it can be a celebration of your growing family! I love incorporating partners and children into maternity photos. Whether you want a cozy family session in my natural light studio or prefer an outdoor location to create a more family-centered experience, the choice is yours.
